Batching

Whenever a manufacturer produces a specified quantity of a product under identical conditions or repackages it, the end result is called a batch or a lot.

A respective batch number or lot code can be used to concisely determine what batch or lot this component belongs to, when it was manufactured and packaged. Frequently, the product expiration date (PED) is added to the code and completes the product information on a package or container.
